The individual reservations can be cancelled or shortened free of charge directly at the hotel until 4 weeks prior to arrival. In case of short-term cancellations or no-shows, the hotel is allowed to charge 80% of the room rate as cancellation charges.
The hotel is adjoined to the Estrel Congress Center and is located in the south-east of Berlin in the Neukölln district, around 7 km from city center. The Sonnenallee S-Bahn commuter train station can be reached on foot in only three minutes, and a bus stop and taxi rank are located right in front of the hotel. The metro station Neukölln is easy to reach. Guests can rent bicycles and cars to explore the city.
Estrel Berlin is Germany’s largest hotel with 1,125 rooms and suites, four restaurants, three bars, a summer garden with its own landing pier and a modern wellness & fitness area. The venue was built in 1995 and features Italian architecture.
Rooms of Estrel Berlin are appointed with climate control, pay TV, a laptop safe, a sitting area and soundproof windows. Breakfast is served in the restaurant each morning. The non-smoking restaurant offers delicious international cuisine.
All conference participants who book their accommodation through the above mentioned booking link get automatically exempted from City Tax.

Please note: If you book your accommodation about the HRS booking link please read the information about hotel tax in Berlin. You have to bring an Employer’s Attestation from to your booked hotel to get exempted from city tax.
Information about City Tax in Berlin:
Since the beginning of 2014, tourists staying in Berlin overnight are subject to paying an accommodation tax, the so-called City Tax.
The City Tax amounts to five percent of the room rate (net price), excluding VAT and fees for amenities and services such as mini-bar, sauna or spa area. Only private overnight stays are subject to the tax. The City Tax is collected by the accommodation providers and added to the hotel bill.
Business travellers are exempt from the City Tax and do not have to pay. They do, however, have to be able to prove the business purpose of their trip.
Employees get exempted as follows:
- Invoice issued to the employer or
- Direct payment of the invoice by the employer or
- Booking made by the employer or
- Completed employer certification –>download here
For an official exemption from the City Tax for
professional purposes you have to fill in the form and your employer has to
sign it. Bring this form to your booked hotel, in general the hotel will
exempt you from the City Tax.
Please note that the hotel is not obliged to do so!
If you have to pay the City Tax, you can request a refund from Finanzamt (tax office) Marzahn-Hellersdorf, enclosing a copy of the official exemption from the City Tax, your congress registration confirmation and your hotel bill.
Please note: Exemptions from the City Tax are for participants of the congress, only! Accompanying Partners and other persons not participating in the congress have to pay the City Tax!
